UK searches of furniture during May saw sofas perform strongly, while the term ‘what is a hybrid mattress’ also received a significant uptick in searches.
According to Google search data analysed by Big Furniture Group, four days during May 2025 saw ‘furniture’ searches record an index score of 90 or more, while a score over 80 came in at 11 days. The highest searched date was 11 May with a full score 100.
Google index’s its search data to 100. This means where 100 is the maximum search interest for the term selected, it is the highest value and indicates a high internet search.
The results saw related searches of specific terms that included ‘mayfair furniture’, up 100%, ‘neptune garden furniture’, up 60%, and ‘tesco outdoor furniture’, up 50%. Popular brand terms included ‘Furniture Village’, ‘Oak Furnitureland’, ‘IKEA’, and ‘The Range’, while ‘garden furniture’, ‘outdoor furniture’, ‘bedroom furniture’ and ‘dining room’ were also high searched terms.
Other search terms Big Furniture Group reviewed included mattresses, bedroom furniture, dining furniture, living room furniture, sofas, carpets and flooring.
Mattresses
Mattress searches recorded four peak dates with an index score value of 90 or more. The highest searched date was 26 May with a full score of 100. Related brand searches saw Simba Sleep, Mattress Online, Sleepeezee, Sealy, Mattressman, Millbrook Beds and Bensons for Beds all perform strongly. The terms ‘small double bed’, ‘king size mattresses for sale’, ‘superking mattresses’, ‘orthopedic mattresses’, and ‘bed frames and mattresses’ were all high breakout searches. Meanwhile, ‘what is a hybrid mattress’ searches increased 2,850%, and ‘mattress shops near me’ searches rose 2,500%, as well as ‘day bed with trundle and mattresses’ searches, up 2,150%.
Bedroom furniture
Bedroom furniture searches recorded two days of peak activity with an index value over 90. The highest searched date was 5 May with a full score of 100. Popular brand searches included The Cotswold Company, Wayfair, Howdens, Bensons for Beds, John Lewis, Dunelm, Next and Oak Furniture Superstore. The terms ‘4 piece bedroom furniture sets uk’, ‘studio bedroom furniture’, ‘childrens bedroom furniture sets’, ‘navy blue bedroom furniture’ and ‘white and oak bedroom furniture’ were all breakout searches, while ‘bedside lamps’ searches rose 3,950%. Other popular searches included ‘made to measure bedroom furniture’ – up 3,000%, and ‘boys bedroom furniture sets’ – up 1,800%.
Dining furniture
Dining furniture searches recorded three days of peak activity with an index value over 90. The most searched date was 11 May, which scored a full 100. Popular brand searches included Daals, Cult Furniture, Neptune, Dusk, Furniture & Choice, Furniture Village, Cox & Cox, OKA, Dwell, Cotswold Company, Next, DFS and Dunelm. The terms ‘drop leaf dining table’, ‘furniture shops near me’, ‘round oak dining table’, ‘solid oak dining table’, ’round dining table and chairs’, and ‘fabric dining chairs’ were all high breakout searches.
Living room furniture
Living room furniture saw three peak days during the month. The most searched day was 25 May that scored the full 100 score. Popular brand related searches included Dunelm, ScS, The Range, Roseland Furniture, Next, DFS, Oak Furnitureland, JYSK, Argos and Furniture Village. The terms ‘corner sofa’, ‘armchairs for living room’, ‘sofas for living room’, ‘hallway furniture’, and ‘luxury living room furniture’ were all breakout searches. Furthermore, ‘sideboard living room’ searches rose 70%, and ‘living room storage furniture’ searches rose 40%.
Sofas
Sofa searches saw six peak dates, with the highest score of 100 recorded on 26 May. Popular related brand searches included Daals, Dusk, Next, ercol, Wayfair, Heal’s, Parker Knoll, Westbridge, NCF, DFS, Saxon, Fishpools and Roseland Furniture. Search terms included ‘bluey sofa’, up 250%, ‘sofa club reviews’, up 160% and ‘sofa bunk bed’, up by 130%. Other terms included ‘inflatable sofas’, up 200%, ‘grey corner sofas’, up 170%, ‘dfs leather sofas clearance’, up 120% and ‘sofas for sale london’, up 100%. Furthermore, ‘sofa shops near me’ saw searches rise 100%, while searches of ‘ercol sofas’ increased 100%. Searches of ‘affordable sofas’ rose 80%, and ‘left hand corner sofa’ increased 70%.
Flooring & Carpets
Flooring searches saw nine days scoring over 90, with the highest date being 24 May, scoring the full 100. Carpet searches saw nine days scoring over 90, with the highest date on 26 May scoring the full 100. Popular brand searches included Cormar Carpets, Abingdon Flooring, Axminster Carpets, Asiatic Carpets, Tapi Carpets, UK Flooring Direct, Amtico, CFC, Howdens and B&M. Popular search terms included ‘pay per week carpets’, ‘tapi carpets bristol’, up 1,900%, ‘cromer carpets’, up 1,400%, and ‘tapi carpets beckton’, up 1,200%. Other terms included ‘dark grey laminate flooring’, up 130%, ‘commercial vinyl flooring’, up 80%’ and ‘howdens laminate flooring’, up 80%.
