Ingka Investments strengthens renewable energy commitment

Ingka Investments, the investment arm of Ingka Group, has acquired a 76.3 MWp operating solar PV portfolio in the Netherlands.

This strategic purchase underscores Ingka Investments’ commitment to renewable energy and sustainable growth. The acquisition comprises three operating solar parks: Scaldia (54.36 MWp), Achtkarspelen (11.72 MWp), and De Kie (10.20 MWp).

The three solar parks will generate approximately 67 GWh of energy per year, which will cover the energy needs of more than 24,000 Dutch households.

This acquisition not only reinforces Ingka Group’s commitment to sustainable growth but also contributes meaningfully to the Netherlands’ transition to a low-carbon economy.

The solar parks have been operating successfully and profitably for over five years, demonstrating both environmental and economic viability.

Frederik de Jong, Head of Renewable Energy at Ingka Investments, said: “We are thrilled to add these high-quality solar farms to our portfolio and are happy to add the Netherlands to the growing number of countries where we operate renewable energy assets. Ingka Group is deeply committed to renewable energy as a cornerstone of our sustainability strategy. By 2030, we aim to invest EUR 7.5 billion in renewable energy in production assets like wind and solar farms and in supporting technologies such as battery storage and e-fuels.”

This acquisition supports Ingka Group’s broader sustainability goals, including reducing carbon emissions and promoting green energy solutions, with the solar parks continuing to generate green electricity and contributing to the global transition towards renewable energy.

The seller is the SUSI Renewable Energy Fund II, an investment vehicle managed by SUSI Partners, a Swiss-based infrastructure investment manager with an exclusive focus on opportunities arising from the global energy transition.
