Sales and profit down at discount department store

Discount department store retailer TJ Hughes has reported a decline in sales and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2024, total sales fell 3.3% to £25.6m from £26.5m in 2023.

TJ Hughes posted an EBITDA margin of 7% for the year of £1.8m, while pre-tax profit amounted to £50,000, down from £139,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “Our development of the Lewis’s Brand has continued to develop with sales of these branded items increasing in 2024.”
