UK searches of furniture during September delivered mixed results with The Cotswold Company performing well in multiple categories, while searches of carpets, Italian bedroom furniture and discounted sofas were all stand out results.
According to Google search data analysed by Big Furniture Group, nine days during September 2025 saw ‘furniture’ searches record an index score of 90 or more, while a score over 80 came in at 16 days. The highest searched date was 21 September with a full score 100.
Google index’s its search data to 100. This means where 100 is the maximum search interest for the term selected, it is the highest value and indicates a high internet search.
The results saw related searches of specific terms that included ‘The Cotswold Company’, up 400%, ‘welcome furniture’, up 120%, and ‘cotswold furniture outlet’, up 100%. Other popular terms included ‘casa bella furniture’ – up 80%, ‘hammonds furniture’ – up 70%, and ‘oak furniture land beds’ – up 60%, while ‘fairway furniture’ was up 50%.
Other search terms Big Furniture Group reviewed included mattresses, bedroom furniture, dining furniture, living room furniture, sofas, carpets and flooring.
Mattresses
Mattress searches recorded five peak dates with an index score value of 90 or more. The highest searched date was 21 September with a full score of 100. Related brand searches saw SleepSoul, Dormeo, Argos, Silentnight, John Lewis, Mattressman, Sealy, MattressNextDay, Oak Furnitureland and Jay-Be.
The terms ‘best memory foam mattress’ – up 50%, ‘best mattress topper’ – up 40%, and ‘single ottoman bed with mattress’ – up 60%, were notable searches. Meanwhile, ‘can you put mattresses in a skip’, ‘single bed mattresses’, and ‘memory foam mattresses’ searches were other high related queries.
Bedroom furniture
Bedroom furniture searches recorded two days of peak activity with an index value over 90. The most searched date was 7 September, which scored a full 100. Popular brand searches included The Cotswold Company, Wren, Howdens, IKEA, The Range, Wayfair and Habitat. The terms ‘Italian bedroom furniture’ – up 400%, ‘built in wardrobes’, ‘wren bedroom furniture’, ‘cotswold bedroom furniture’, and ‘navy bedroom furniture’ were high breakout searches, while ‘argos bedroom furniture sets’ searches rose 50%, and ‘baby bedroom furniture’ searches were up 50%.
Dining furniture
Dining furniture searches recorded three days of peak activity with an index value over 90. The most searched date was 28 September, which scored a full 100. Popular brand searches included IKEA, The Cotswold Company, DFS, Next, ScS, Lee Longlands, West Elm and John Lewis. The terms ‘round dining table for 4’ – up 130%, ‘corner dining bench’ – up 100%, ‘ikea dining table’, and ‘extendable dining table’ were high searches.
Living room furniture
Living room furniture saw two peak days during the month. The most searched day was 21 September that scored the full 100 score. Popular brand related searches included Roseland Furniture, Dunelm, IKEA, ScS, The Range, Furniture Village and John Lewis. The terms ‘living room sideboard’, ‘ottoman’, ‘cupboard’, ‘floor lamp’, ‘TV unit’, and ‘ikea living room furniture’, were all standout searches.
Sofas
Sofa searches saw four peak dates, with the highest score of 100 recorded on 21 September. Popular related brand searches included Sofology, Wayfair, Swoon, ScS, DFS, Natuzzi, Cotswold Company, Neptune, Fishpools, Dusk, Barker & Stonehouse, John Lewis and Harvey Norman. Search terms included ‘Chesterfield Sofas’, up 150%, and ‘cheap sofas for sale under £500’, up 3,350%. Other terms included ‘barker & stonehouse sofas’, ‘compact corner sofas for small rooms’, ‘ex display sofas dfs’, up 180% and ‘made to measure sofas’, up 100%.
Flooring & Carpets
Flooring searches saw 18 days scoring over 90, with the highest date being 1 September, scoring the full 100. Carpet searches saw 12 days scoring over 90, with the highest date on 6 September scoring the full 100. Popular brand searches included Altro, B&Q, Cormar, Brintons, United Carpets, Terry’s Carpets, Tapi Carpets, Calvert Carpets and Castle Carpets.
Popular search terms included ‘discount flooring depot’ – up 200%, ‘B&Q wooden flooring’, ‘carpet warehouse’, and ‘black laminate flooring’. Other terms included ‘carpet for living room’, while ‘tooting carpets’ searches rose 4,400%, ‘kenton carpets’ – up 3,900% and ‘castle carpets shrewsbury’, up 3,750%.
