Furniture, homeware, fashion and garden retailer Downtown, formerly Oldrids, has reported a growth in sales.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 25 January 2025, total sales rose 1.5% to £28.3m from £27.9m in 2024.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £972,000, improving from £829,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company, which operates from two stores in Grantham and Boston as well as a garden centre, said: “Turnover on delivered sales has increased by 1.5%, gross margin has increased by 5.7%, due to a better overall margin percentage (43.86% vs 42.13%).

“The company made a significantly improved profit against a prior year. The improvement was driven by the performance at both Downtown Grantham and Downtown Boston stores.”
