Bed retailer brings festive spirit to children in hospital with donation drive

Independent beds retailer Linthorpe Beds has raised 1,170 selection boxes and over £500 as part of its Christmas Donation Drive for the NHS.

The business launched its first ever selection box Donation Drive to bring some Christmas cheer to children that are patients at three hospitals in the area.

These included the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.

Linthorpe said that the response has been “incredible” from its local community. “Together, we collected an amazing 1,170 selection boxes and festive treats, along with £550 in monetary donations as part of this year’s Christmas Donation Drive – and we are truly blown away.

“A huge, heartfelt thank you to our wonderful customers, dedicated staff, supportive suppliers, and the local businesses and schools who got involved. The generosity shown across everyone who took part has been nothing short of incredible, and every donation, share, and kind word helped make this campaign so special.

“The NHS Trusts we supported have been overwhelmed by the support, with both of our in-store ottoman bases – used as drop-off points – completely overflowing with festive donations.

“Thanks to the sheer number of items collected, every child spending Christmas in the Trusts’ hospitals will receive at least one selection box to enjoy and keep during their stay. It’s a small gesture, but one we hope brings comfort, joy, and festive cheer at what can be a very difficult time.

“We’re also delighted to share that the money raised will go directly towards in-house projects within the children’s wards at each NHS Trust, helping to support initiatives that make hospital stays a little brighter and more positive for young patients.

“As this was the first year of our Christmas Donation Drive, we didn’t set a target – we were simply hoping to receive a few hundred items. To see that number reach 1,170 has completely exceeded anything we could have imagined. The response from our community has truly humbled us.

“We’ll absolutely be back again next year, inspired to build on what has been an amazing first year – and ready to set (and smash!) a new target. Once again, a massive thank you to everyone who supported, donated, and shared. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
