The Senior Buyer role at Joseph James isn’t like a typical buying role in the furniture industry. It is fast-paced, with decisions being made in minutes instead of months.

Think of it like a stock broker on Wall Street, except take away the holidays in the Hamptons and replace them with an office in Stockport and daily visits to suppliers’ warehouses. 

75% of our buying, is branded clearance stock whether from retailers, distributors or manufacturers. The other 25% is what we call ‘own-brand’ furniture, this is what we use to plug the gaps in our showrooms and ensure we always have enough of customer’s basic demands on display. This year we want to really refine the quality and strategy of this 25%, while expanding and strengthening our relationship for the branded clearance stock.
