Best show yet for Sofa Connections

West Midlands upholstery manufacturer Sofa Connections returns from the January Furniture Show (JFS) in positive mood after delivering its best show yet.

Starting with the show-stoppers, Sofa Connections, which is headed up by husband-and-wife duo Matt and Sarah Oakley, unveiled a number of new products during the show.

“Our new Highgate model features a square arm with a stylish piped detail that is low to the floor, while the Gaudet is a set back arm classic, yet modern, and is supported by traditional castors, with a new feather seat and feather back cushions,” Sarah said.

But it was the Ilkley, a traditional sofa with a modern twist, that stole the limelight. “By far, our stand out piece was the Ilkley,” Sarah continued. “Everyone loved the new model with its bandage arm and the fabric (Osaka) it was in. It delivered the perfect shape to rest comfortably.”

The popular products paved the way for a positive show overall for the company. “JFS was our best show yet,” Sarah revealed. “We had some lovely orders, which we’re very grateful for and hope to have floor models out on display by Easter.

“We found the show very positive this year. Buyers seemed to be there to buy, which seemed like such a contrast to the previous year. I’m hoping this is a sign of good things to come.”

As Sarah mentioned, attention now turns to producing floor models and maintaining its momentum post-JFS, with the help of its show van. “For now, we are focusing on getting out the floor models, then I’m going to be chatting with some firms to arrange an apprentice so we can start to push forward on bringing further talent into the upholstery industry,” Sarah continued.

“We are planning some show van dates to get our product directly in front of key buyers too, as well as confirming that we will once again be showing at JFS next year.”

In addition to expanding its workforce through apprenticeships, Sofa Connections is also investing in its back offices and imagery, as well as further product development. As a final thought on its recent show success, Sarah said: “We would love to thank everyone who came to visit us at JFS.

“Whether they invested with us or not, we understand the importance of time and really appreciate that people spent precious minutes with us to hear our story and sit on our sofas. We’re excited for the year ahead.”
