Homeware high street sales rise for eighth straight week

Homeware sales rose on the high street for an eighth straight week.

According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 3.2% for the week ending 1 March 2026.

Homewares total LFLs grew by +13.20% from a base of -3.24% for the same week last week, marking the category’s eighth consecutive positive week.

Store homewares sales increased by +3.65% from a negative base of -3.08% for the same week last year. Non-store homewares sales accelerated by +62.20% from a negative base of -15.94% last year.

Total store LFL sales edged up by +0.65% from a negative base of -5.46% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales saw a healthy rise of +12.64% from a base of -10.26% for the same week in 2025.

Commenting on the results, BDO said: “In a positive start for the month, LFL sales increased across all retail segments and sales channels – Lifestyle (+0.77%), fashion (+3.45%), and homewares (+13.20%).

“With the start of Spring at the end of the week, the weather this week was a mixed bag of wet, mild, and unsettled weather, with a small uplift mid-week which saw the warmest day in February.”

Overall, footfall fell by -3.4% this week, with footfall down across all categories – shopping centre footfall down -3.8%, high street footfall down by -3.7%, and retail park footfall down by -2.3%.
