Sofa Club celebrates strong Newcastle opening

Sofa Club has officially opened the doors to its brand-new Metrocentre showroom in Newcastle, delivering a standout launch weekend that welcomed over 1,000 visitors across the Easter Bank Holiday.

Despite being closed on Easter Sunday, the showroom saw a steady flow of customers from Good Friday through to Monday, marking a very positive start for the brand’s latest retail location.

Sales performance tracked in line with forecasts, reflecting a strong and well-executed opening weekend that met expectations and signals promising momentum for the weeks ahead.

Located at Unit 4A, Metro Oasis, the new two-level showroom brings Sofa Club’s signature blend of bold design and laid-back comfort to the Northeast, giving customers the opportunity to experience the brand in an elevated, immersive retail environment.

To celebrate the launch, Sofa Club brought the vibes across the Easter weekend with a live DJ, coffee and matcha cart, cupcakes, and branded tote bag giveaways. Families were also welcomed with children’s Easter egg hunt activities, creating an engaging and inclusive in-store experience.

Customers responded enthusiastically to the new space, with many praising the store’s elevated look and feel, alongside the music, atmosphere, and refreshments throughout the weekend.

Among the wide range of styles on display, the Bloomsbury and Marleybone collections emerged as clear fan favourites, drawing strong interest from customers. However, the weekend also highlighted the breadth of Sofa Club’s offering, with a wide variety of colours, fabrics, and configurations proving popular, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to offering something for every home and style.

The successful launch at the Metrocentre marks another important milestone in Sofa Club’s ongoing retail expansion, as the brand continues to bring its design-led approach to new communities across the UK.

“We’re really pleased with how the opening weekend went,” said Tom O’Neil, Co-Founder of Sofa Club. “The turnout was incredible, the energy in store was exactly what we hoped for, and it’s great to see customers in the Northeast connecting with the brand in person. We’ve always said life’s too short for average sofas, and this showroom is all about bringing that to life.”
