Bed retailer opens new Northampton store

National bed retailer Dreams has announced the opening of its new store in Northampton.

Situated at St James Retail Park, the new store takes over the former Next Outlet, which closed during August 2025.

The new store also sees Dreams reopen in Northampton after its other store on Nene Valley Retail Park was impacted by a serious fire at home furnishings retailer Dunelm.

The fire, which took place in May 2025, destroyed the Dunelm store as well as forcing the closure of a number of other shops at the park, including Pets at Home, NCF Living, Dreams, B&M and Tapi Carpets.

Recent plans to demolish the shops were approved with works already underway. The worst-hit units, including Dunelm and Pets at Home, will be completely demolished, while neighbouring stores such as NCF Living and Dreams will have its roofs and front sections removed before being rebuilt.

In other news, Dreams has recently announced the appointment of Gemma Saunders as its new Director of People. See Related.
