Chinese baby bed rejected at border due to safety concerns

A baby bed has been rejected at the UK border after failing to meet safety regulations.

In a notice from the Office for Product Safety and Standards, the Mlove11 Baby Co Sleeping Bed, which originates from China, has no valid technical documentation, as well as a lack of labelling to support safe usage.

The statement said: “The baby bed has no valid technical documentation and there is a lack of labelling, marking and instructions. In the absence of markings and instructions to support consumers in safe usage, it may be possible for the product to be used in an unsafe manner.

“For example, if a young child is placed in the product to sleep unsupervised and moves in their sleep, they may become pressed against a bumper, restricting their airway and potentially leading to suffocation.

“The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005. The import has been rejected at the border.”
