Chinese bed sheet rejected at border over safety concerns

A Chinese bed sheet has been rejected at the UK border after presenting a high risk of an electric shock.

The product, which originates from China and sold via Amazon under the brand ConBlorr, is described as a bed sheet with a cable and wall plug for earthing, which gives the user a “grounding” effect, said to provide electrons from the earth to the body.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards stated: “This product presents a high risk of electric shock as the pins on the travel adaptor plug provided do not meet the relevant requirements as they are too close to the periphery of the plug.

“If the user were to be plugging/unplugging the adaptor into the wall socket, and they touch the live/ neutral pins, they may receive an electric shock.

“The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994. The import has been rejected at the border.”
