Furnishings textiles supplier narrows losses

Furnishings fabrics and wallcoverings supplier Osborne & Little has reported a decline in sales while losses narrowed.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 March 2025, total sales fell 6% to £11.9m from £12.7m in 2024.

Pre-tax losses resulted at £417,000, narrowing from its loss of £983,000 recorded the previous year.

UK sales fell to £4m from £4.3m, while EU sales rose from £379,000 to £432,000. This excluded sales to Germany, which resulted at £2m – down from £2.3m, while US sales increased from £4.5m to £4.6m. Rest of the world sales were down to £787,000 from £1m.

Stated within its report, the company said: “The cost of living continued to rise as in the previous year, along with the stalling of the housing market which in aggregate contributed to the decline in sales. Sales in the UK dropped 7% down on the previous year.

“The gross profit of £4,970,000 was 42% of sales compared with 39% in the previous year (2024 – £4,913,000) due to savings in direct costs such as carriage inwards, payroll and also efficiencies in sampling costs of pattern books.”
