Furniture imports during July 2025 increased slightly on the same month last year while exports from the UK were also up.
According to the latest UK trade data, analysed by Big Furniture Group, total imports of furniture into Britain valued £734m in July 2025, up 2.3% from £717.1m against the same month the previous year.
Imports from the EU registered an uptick of 5.8% to £362.8m from £342.7m. Imports from Italy were up 6.6% to £87.9m, while Polish imports fell 6% to £58.5m. Imports from Germany were up 6.5% to £58.9m. Notable rises came from the Netherlands, up 76% to £20.7m, and from Sweden, up 19% to £9.5m.
As for outside the EU, total imports were down 0.8% to a value of £371.2m from £374.3m. Chinese imports were down 5.1% to £257.1m, while Vietnam rose by 18% to £19.1m. Imports from USA declined 12% to £18.6m and Moroccan imports fell 0.6% to £11.8m.
Moving to exports, the total value of UK furniture leaving the country rose 15.8% to £204m from £176m year-on-year. In Europe, exports increased by 6.8% to £90.5m from £84.7m. Exports to France increased 16% to £27.8m, while Irish exports were up 9.8% to £21.1m. Exports to Slovakia rose 258% to £2.8m, while to Spain, exports were up 95% to £3.8m.
Outside the EU saw exports increase 24.2% to £113.4m from £91.3m. Exports to China were up 56% to £3.3m, while Singapore rose 95% to £4.3m. Exports to the UAE were up 1.2% to £7.3m, while the USA increased 20% to £56.7m and exports to Taiwan rose 456% to £2m.
