Homeware sales maintained positive on the high street for a third consecutive week.
According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales fell 1.96% for the week ending 26 October 2025.
Homewares total LFLs jumped by +10.50% and offset a weak base of -2.79% for the same week last year, representing the category’s third straight positive week.
Store homewares sales rose by +11.40% from a base of -3.28, indicative of the category’s third consecutive positive result, while non-store sales for homewares returned to growth this week after four straight negative outcomes, jumping by +12.40% from a base of -4.46%.
Total store LFL sales dipped by -2.10% from a base of -4.51% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales slipped by +1.40% from a base of -3.16% for the same week last year.
Commenting on the results, BDO said: “LFL sales results declined both in-store and non-store as footfall fell across the board for a second consecutive week.
“Nonetheless, online fashion remained positive for a third straight week, while homewares equally saw healthy sales outcomes both in-store and online.
“This week began with the UK experiencing mild autumn weather, but gradually shifted to cooler, cloudier conditions toward the end of the week.
“The same week last year featured unsettled weather, including strong winds and rain from the impact of Storm Ashley.”
Overall footfall declined by -4.7% as results fell across all tracked categories, with high streets seeing a steep drop of -8.1%, while foot traffic for shopping centres and retail parks decreased by -1.9% and -0.6% respectively.
