Homeware high street sales remain positive for tenth week

Homeware sales rose again on the high street for a tenth consecutive week.

According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 7.59% for the week ending 7 September 2025.

Homewares total LFLs climbed by +12.50% from a base of +1.93% for the same week in 2024, denoting the category’s tenth consecutive positive result.

Store homewares sales sprang up by +13.80% from a solid base of +16.07%, marking the category’s eighth consecutive positive outcome, while non-store sales for homewares grew by 8.80%, failing to offset a negative base of -11.79%.

Total store LFL sales went up by +5.14% from a base of +8.39% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales jumped by +9.88% from a strong base of +23.92% for the same week last year.

Commenting on the results, BDO said: “Retail sales grew across all segments and channels this week, with non-store fashion and store homewares sales posting double-digit growth.

“Both total in-store and total non-store sales have now been positive for six straight weeks. This week witnessed typical early autumn, with a mix of rain showers, sunny spells, and mild temperatures, while northern areas saw heavier rain.

“The same week last year saw unsettled weather, characterized by a mix of heavy rain and sunny spells.”

Overall footfall went up by +1.0% compared to the same week last year. Foot traffic grew across the board, with shopping centres seeing an increase of +1.4%, +1.0% in retail parks and +0.8% on high streets.
