Homeware sales returned to growth on the high street, its fourth positive result in the past five weeks.
According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 1.32% for the week ending 12 October 2025.
Homewares total LFLs jumped by +8.53% from a good base of +5.59% for the same week in 2024, marking the category’s fourth positive result in the past five weeks.
Store homewares sales rose by +4.64% from a positive base of +2.35%, symbolizing the category’s third positive result in the past five weeks, while non-store sales for homewares declined for a third straight week, slipping by -1.34% from a solid base of +6.06%.
Total store LFL sales inched up by +0.82% from a positive base of +2.32% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales grew by +4.43% from a solid base of +12.64% for the same week last year.
Commenting on the results, BDO said: “Total LFL sales returned to growth this week as both store and non-store sales registered positive outcomes.
“Store sales growth was led chiefly by lifestyle and homewares, as store fashion sales dipped into negative territory following ten weeks of positive results. Conversely, non-store sales growth was driven solely by fashion as lifestyle and homewares sales slipped online.
“This week’s weather in the UK was mild but noticeably cooler, with largely overcast conditions, while some areas experienced rainy spells. During the same week in 2024, the weather was unsettled overall, with frequent rain, showers, and shifting winds.”
