Homeware high street sales rise for seventh straight week

Homeware sales rose on the high street for a seventh straight week.

According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 2.22% for the week ending 22 February 2026.

Homewares total LFLs surged by +12.83% from a base of -3.15% for the same week last week, marking the category’s seventh consecutive positive week.

Store homewares sales edged down by -0.55% from a negative base of -8.16% for the same week last year. Non-store homewares sales rose by +20.45% from a base of -9.15% last year.

Total store LFL sales fell by -2.20% from a base of +2.60% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales expanded by +5.19% from a base of +0.22% for the same week last year.

Commenting on the results, BDO said: “In a week that included the Spring half-term break for many schools in the UK, total like-for-like (LFL) sales increased by +2.22% from a base of +1.45% for the same week last year, driven by strong homewares sales (+12.83%) and fashion sales (+4.20%).

“Total LFL sales have grown each week in February. Persistent rain remained the dominant feature across most of the UK this week, particularly in southern England, Wales, northern England, and Scotland with multiple flood warnings in place.”

Overall footfall declined by -0.6%, driven by high street foot traffic which fell by -1.3% and shopping centre footfall which saw foot traffic fall by -0.1%, whereas footfall at retail parks edged up by +0.5%.
