Kitchen furniture firm returns to profit

Luxury handmade kitchen furniture business Martin Moore has reported a slight decline in sales but a return to profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 March 2024, total sales fell 1.8% to £10.7m from £10.9m in 2023.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £227,000, up from a loss of £100,000 recorded in the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “Many costs have stabilised during the year, although the group still experienced some impacts on supply chains, leading to extended lead times for appliances.

“Fitting costs remained high during these times as there was still a need to make return visits to clients because of the extended lead times on certain appliances, but these costs are now reducing.

“Despite these challenges, turnover and gross profit have remained steady, with a return to a profit before tax. In May 2023, the Fulham showroom was closed. This had long been the plan since the flagship Notting Hill showroom was opened.

“With a successful marketing campaign, the company relies less on business from direct walk-in and the need for showrooms has declined.”
