Packaging product specialist Simpson Packaging Group has announced its further expansion into the furniture market.
Simpson Packaging are one of the UK’s leading suppliers of packaging materials and handling equipment to industry specialising in the Removals and Self-storage sector.
To fuel its expansion within the furniture market, the Ossett-based business has been building its capability and product range to meet the demands of customers in Furniture manufacturing and distribution.
Heading up this expansion is Richard Firn, Business Development Manager, who joined the company just over a year ago, bringing over 19 years of industry experience. “I joined Simpson Packaging back in August 2024 with the ambition to expand our services into the furniture market,” Richard said.
Prior to Richard’s arrival, Simpson Packaging acquired the building opposite the existing warehouse, with the aim of becoming a ‘one stop shop’, creating a more comprehensive inventory of stocked material lines and expanding their product offerings to align more closely with the Furniture Industry’s needs.
The enhanced product range features a wide selection of clear polythene bags specifically manufactured for furniture and mattresses, offered in various thicknesses and dimensions and containing 30% PCW.
Additionally, it includes transit blankets and webbing van ties for distribution, along with a complete assortment of sack trucks, skates and fitted covers designed for the “2 man home delivery” market.
Another product innovation has been the move towards sustainable packaging products with an enhanced range of paper furniture covers and mattress packs, 100% recyclable and containing a high recycled material content. These are manufactured to client specifications at Simpson Packaging Group owned company Dependable Packaging, based in South Wales.
The first twelve months have proved highly successful, and the aim is to grow the product range and client base even more in 2026. Richard has visited many customers, old and new, up and down the country. “It’s been a great year and we’re now in a position to hit the ground running with our services that we think can make a real difference with furniture businesses.”
