Meet the Agent/Rep: Aiden Hill

In the next instalment of our series of interviews with agents and reps across the furnishings industry, we spoke with Aiden Hill, who shares an insight into his role, some early highlights and why Harrison Spinks should be celebrated.

Meet Aiden

With over a decade of experience in the nursery industry, I bring deep product knowledge, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for helping clients succeed. I pride myself on delivering exceptional customer service and building lasting relationships that grow with your business.

I’ve been in the industry for only a few months, so very new, and I currently represent luxury beds and mattresses manufacturer Harrison Spinks. It’s a new challenge and one I’m loving so far.

What drew you into the life of an agent/rep and what’s the day-to-day like?

I like being the connector, not the spotlight. I’m energised by helping others win. Shaping outcomes, opening new doors and negotiating behind the scenes. No two days are the same. Reacting, adapting and juggling – that’s what it’s all about. I also love to travel too.

My day-to-day consists of communication and travel – lots of it! From emails, texts, calls to follow ups and fresh appointments. I’m constantly learning about the product and business too, which is fascinating and a joy to sell. And then there’s the travelling across the UK and Ireland, which is great fun being able to meet lots of different people from the industry.

What is the best part of your role?

I would say the best part is engaging with different people, making new relationships and working out different personalities. Being able to offer a premium product/experience is also very rewarding.

What is the most difficult?

Despite my love for travelling, it has to be the traffic, as I’m, sure most in my position would agree!

Do you have any particular highlights so far?

Yes, plenty already in just my short time. Some that stick out are visiting some of the best places across the country, as well as being able to visit some of the finest boutique hotels too. Feeling rather privileged to be honest.

What challenges do you think currently face agents/reps in the furnishing industry?

My only challenge is that I’m new to the industry so everything is full speed ahead. That said, I relish a challenge and I’m loving every minute of it so far. It’s also great to bring a fresh pair of eyes to the industry too.

What has helped you get off and running in your role?

Knowing I have a quality premium brand behind me is a great start. The Harrison Spinks team have been wonderful too. It’s onwards and upwards for both the brand and myself.

What would help agents/reps more?

Even though I’m a newbie to the industry, I’ve noticed some early observations that really stand out that help and benefit agents and reps. These include speed of delivery and stock availability, especially for core ranges and educating sales staff – as confidence on the shop floor directly impacts conversion. Furthermore, consistency and aftersales support is key too, which plays a major role in repeat business. Thankfully, Harrison Spinks are at the top of their game and provide all the support to help us thrive.

What would you say to someone considering becoming an agent/rep?

Again, as someone new to the role, I think you’ve got to have the right attitude. You also have to have the desire to travel and not to sit at home behind a laptop waiting for things to happen. You have to be driven and make things happen, while conducting yourself in a positive and professional way – even when there’s traffic!

What is the most important attribute to have as an agent/rep and why?

Trustworthiness. Nothing works if people don’t trust you. Customer service and communication always certainly help too.

Can you share something that irritates you the most as an agent/rep?

Lack of communication. As mentioned previously, communication is key in this role and without it, everything can collapse.

Can you share an insight into your plans for the year ahead?

My goal is to increase Harrison Spinks beds and mattresses into as many boutique hotels as possible across the UK and Ireland, as well as growing the interior design division too. And I’m up for the challenge.

What’s the next big thing you are seeing in the industry and why?

The innovation and heritage from Harrison Spinks provide valuable talking points, supports confident selling and helps hoteliers and interior designers clearly communicate value to end customers. It reinforces the importance of representing products that offer genuine points of difference, rather than competing solely on price.

Final thought…

I think it must be continually celebrated that Harrison Spinks once again was awarded ‘Bed Manufacturer of the Year’ at the 2025 National Bed Federation Awards, winning the coveted award for a second year running and fifth time in total. The consecutive win reflects a series of significant achievements by the business over the past 12 months, including Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal visiting the company’s farm and factory to present its most recent King’s Award in Sustainable Development – the eighth King’s/Queen’s Award achieved by the business – and Simon Spinks, Chairman of Harrison Spinks, being awarded an OBE for his services to the mattress and bed industry earlier this year. The company has a rich history and heritage and is something that should be celebrated. I’m proud to be part of the team.
