The rate of furniture production during October 2025 registered a monthly increase, while the value in domestic goods rose on the previous month and against last year.
According to the latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) data, the rate of furniture production rose by 2.1% compared to September, while up 5.5% on October last year.
The value of the manufacture of furniture resulted at £1bn, up 8.6% from £925.4m the prior month. Against the same period last year, the value increased 12.5% from £893.9m.
As for the value of furniture manufacturer exports, this decreased 10.3% to £51.8m for the month from £57.8m. Against last year, exports value rose 5.7% from £49m.
The value of domestic furniture manufacture increased 9.9% to £953.8m from £867.6m in the month, while up 12.8% from £844.9m last year.
Overall, monthly GDP is estimated to have fallen by 0.1%, following a fall of 0.1% in September 2025 and no growth in August 2025. Production output is estimated to have grown by 1.1% in October 2025, following a fall of 2.0% in September 2025.
Commenting on the GDP figures for the three months to October, ONS Director of Economic Statistics Liz McKeown said: “The economy contracted slightly in the latest three months, as production fell again and services growth stalled.
“Within production, there was continued weakness in car manufacturing, with the industry only making a slight recovery in October from the substantial fall in output seen in the previous month.
“Overall services showed no growth in the latest three months, continuing the recent trend of slowing in this sector. There were falls in wholesale and scientific research, offset by growth in rental and leasing and retail.”
