Precision engineering as visual poetry: Meet Vinspoke

Forged in the fires of industry and driven by creative ambition, Vinspoke began life as the lunchtime brainchild of Founder Alistair Shiach. We found out more.

Alistair began honing his design and fabrication skills, experimenting with spares and offcuts, on lunchbreaks at his former fabrication day job. Having deferred a product design university placement aged 18, he took a job at a local metalworking firm with the ambition of learning to weld – 14 years later it was time for a new challenge and with the product design streak still very much at large, Vinspoke was born.

“The Vinspoke ethos, as stated on our website, is simple yet powerfully executed: form deserves an equal seat alongside function at every opportunity; why shouldn’t a functional object be as beautiful as possible?,” Alistair said. “We specialise in premium coffee and living tables but also offer a bespoke design and build service at a clients request, all from our Hertfordshire workshop.”

Alistair added that he has a “natural inclination” towards neat and minimalist design and enjoys the ability to manipulate cold hard steel into something “sleek and beautiful”. It was then a natural progression to incorporate other materials into the Vinspoke builds.

“A great example is The Mercurial,” Alistair said. “It’s the flagship Vinspoke piece; a stunning marriage of steel, timber and glass, built across split elevations with the glass nestled and hung just beneath the steel and timber arrangement above. The geometric fanned steel chassis cradles the white American Oak top with bold yet refined support, with each decorative countersunk detail catching the light – precision engineering as visual poetry.

“It’s a statement piece that asks, “why not?”. The Mercurial marries workshop authenticity with slick minimalist charm, entirely and proudly hand made in Great Britain to uncompromising standards.”

Vinspoke places itself as a premium statement brand with its select range and bespoke nature. “We understand now, more so than ever in a busy marketplace, that product quality and longevity are paramount – something we’ve found consumers are happy to pay for,” Alistair continued. “We believe our products command attention; we simply want customers to take joy in every viewing and hopefully stir conversation with every new set of eyes on their Vinspoke original.”

The Vinspoke USP is its signature style and extensive range of customisable elements; powder coat colours, timber type, glass/mirror shade, size, dimensions, LED integration and timber laser etch options. Combined, these create beautiful memorial or celebratory pieces.

“In addition to what we offer, our entire build service is bespoke and we think we’re a very exciting young furniture brand, ready to grow in the market,” Alistair said. “Product prices start from £949 with a 10% email sign-up promotional discount on your first order too.

“2026 is set to be the year the world gets to know Vinspoke with appearances at premium interior design exhibitions, exciting selective retail partnerships and new products on the horizon. We’re excited about the year ahead and what’s next. Please do give us a follow on Instagram (@vinspokefab) too and get in touch to see how we can bring the art of bespoke to your home or business.”
