Profit returns at beds and mattress manufacturer

Beds and mattresses manufacturer Mansion House Bedding Company has reported an increase in sales and return to profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 March 2025, total sales rose 5% to £8.4m from £8m in 2024.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £314,000, improving from its loss of £46,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company, which operates brands including The Old English Bed Company, Mattison Contract Beds and EPOC, said: “Turnover increased on the previous year, with stronger trading across several key market segments despite ongoing macroeconomic pressures.

“In particular, the contract sector saw a notable uplift within the period, driven by strengthened customer relationships and improved lead times. This offset the contraction seen in the retail sector seen in the same period.

“Gross profit margins showed stabilisation after the prior year’s contraction. While input costs continued to rise in some areas including raw materials and specialist labour the group successfully implemented selective price adjustments and efficiency measures that helped offset a portion of these increases.

“Investment in machinery in the year, and in previous years has also contributed to improved productivity in the manufacturing process.

“Overheads remain tightly controlled, despite continued wage inflation. The group completed its wind-down of the invoice financing facility in the period, leading to a further reduction in financing costs year-on-year.”
