Furniture business Kingcome Sofas, part of the Colefax Group plc, has reported a decline in sales and profit.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 April 2025, total sales fell 8% to £2.9m from £3.2m in 2024.
UK sales were down to £2.5m from £2.8m, while EU revenues fell to £372,000 from £387,000. USA sales registered £9,000.
Pre-tax profit resulted at a record £335,000, down from £419,000 recorded in the previous year.
Stated within its report, the company, which operates its London showroom on Fulham Road and its Devon workshop and showroom in Heathfield, said gross margin increased from 43% to 44%.
“The majority of sales are made to order and the company carries minimal stock. Sales during the year reflect orders actually delivered and a more useful measure of trading performance is the order intake during the year.
“The order intake was up by 21% compared to a decline of 14% in the prior year and despite relatively challenging market conditions in the UK.”
