Sales rise as profit returns at sofa maker

Furniture maker Saxon Furniture has reported a growth in sales as well as a return to profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 June 2025, total sales rose 3.1% to £6.5m from £6.3m in 2024.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £40,000, improving from a loss of £207,000 recorded in its previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “The financial year has seen continued challenges across the UK furniture and home interiors market, driven by subdued consumer confidence, cost-of-living pressures and lower discretionary spending.

“Against this backdrop, the company has focused on strengthening operational efficiency, managing costs and protecting product quality. The business has made notable progress in improving gross margin through tighter control of direct costs, improved procurement discipline and further efficiencies within production.

“These measures, together with disciplined overhead management, contributed to a return to operating profit during the year.”
