Amthal Karim – Head of Design at Furniture And Choice – shares her monthly overview of on-trend styles and interior looks currently inspiring furniture buyers.
If we’re talking about home furniture trends, coffee shops might not be the first thing that come to mind. However, cafés are beginning to influence home décor. Textures, seating and colours are being inspired by coffee and well, hot drinks are fashionable – this is Cafécore.
Think every tone from latte beige to espresso brown, and even coffee syrups with vanilla and caramel shades increasingly common. We’re talking upholstery choices and finishes on dining tables and chairs that play on the senses – rich flavours and taste.
The idea behind styling your home with coffee shop vibes is less about practical elements and more about atmosphere. The combination of soft lighting, low seating and coffee tones is designed to make you feel calm. Enhance this with biophilic curves, plenty of plants and dark wood with retro undertones and you have an interior to rival any fashionable café ambience.
The demand for wall features such as wooden wall slats – often found in UK coffee houses – shows no sign of slowing across bedrooms, living rooms and home studies alike. The warmth of wood and the modern feel make it a popular choice for DIY, as seen on all your favourite social media platforms.

Dining and accent chairs are taking inspiration from more sociable aspects of coffee shops. The intention is to invite you to relax, get cosy and stay longer. We’ve noticed accent chair designs evolve from practical and compact to large and lounge-y. High-back chairs are shifting towards low-back designs, almost to the ground. Dining chairs are becoming more like armchairs with covered legs and thick bases – somewhere to stay and unwind after your meal.
And what about the actual coffee? It’s not just living and dining spaces that benefit from Cafécore. Customers are showing an affinity towards aesthetic tea and coffee stations in their kitchens – dedicated spaces with blends, syrups, and toppings on display. Kitchen retailers are marketing built-in display cabinets styled as the perfect space to brew your morning cup, or two.
Cafécore has taken everyday elements and woven them into a lifestyle by underpinning existing sustainable elements such as natural wood, plants and organic shapes with café colours, textures and moods. It’s somewhere for your morning fix, or evening chill, a break-out space for any time, not just – ahem – the flavour of the month.
