Furniture imports during December 2025 increased on the same month last year while exports from the UK also rose.
According to the latest UK trade data, analysed by Big Furniture Group, total imports of furniture into Britain valued £677.7m in December 2025, up 5.1% from £644.4m against the same month the previous year.
Imports from the EU registered an uptick of 4.3% to £290.6m from £278.6m. Imports from Italy were up 6.4% to £59.7m, while Polish imports rose 6% to £64m. Imports from Germany were also up 3.9% to £40.7m.
As for outside the EU, total imports were up 5.8% to a value of £387m from £365.7m. Chinese imports were up 2.1% to £279.9m, while Vietnam rose by 27% to £21.5m. Imports from USA rose 21% to £19.1m and Moroccan imports rose 30% to £10.4m.
Moving to exports, the total value of UK furniture leaving the country rose 6.7% to £210.7m from £197.5m year-on-year. In Europe, exports increased by 5.7% to £84.3m from £79.7m. Exports to France increased 19% to £29.5m, while Irish exports were up 8.9% to £17.2m. Exports to Germany fell 28% to £11.1m, while to Slovakia, exports were up 332% to £2.8m.
Outside the EU saw exports increase 7.3% to £126.4m from £117.7m. Exports to China were up 9.3% to £7.6m, while Singapore fell 5.5% to £6.1m. Exports to the UAE were down 32% to £7.3m, while the USA increased 27% to £68.1m.
