Homeware sales rose on the high street for a second straight week.
According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 3.14% for the week ending 3 May 2026.
Homewares total LFLs increased by +10.50%, from a base of -4.57% for the same week last year.
Store homewares sales fell by -2.60% this week, compared to a negative base of -5.05% for the same week last year. Non-store homewares sales powered ahead by +50.90% this week, from a negative base of -16.80% last year.
Total store LFL sales grew by +1.36% this week, compared to a positive base of +2.83% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales increased by +8.45% this week, marking four weeks of consecutive growth, compared to a negative base of -6.17% for the same week last year.
Commenting on the results, BDO said: “For the second week in a row, stores, non-store and all retail categories (lifestyle, fashion, and homewares) saw positive increases.
“This week saw the weather shift from mixed late-April weather into a warm early-May heat spike, before a return to cooler, wetter conditions over the May Public Holiday weekend.”
Springboard data showed overall footfall fell by -0.8% this week, led by high street footfall which fell by -2.0%, whereas retail parks footfall increased by +1.1% and shopping centre footfall was flat at 0.0%.
