Ready for a closer look

British sofa and chair manufacturer West Midlands Upholstery is ready for the Spring Furniture & Bed Show.

After taking a breather following a successful January Furniture Show (JFS) earlier this year, West Midlands Upholstery, run by husband-and-wife team, Steve & Alison Whitehouse, is ready to exhibit at the Spring Furniture & Bed Show where the company is looking forward to displaying its 2026 models.

“Having not exhibited at this show previously, we felt now would be a good time to make an appearance,” Alison said. “We so enjoyed exhibiting at The Autumn Furniture Show last year, it was a successful show for us and there was a great atmosphere of positivity.

“We launched two new models in January, one being our “Palma”, where we used a stunning colour array of soft coppers and blues on the Palma sofas, inspired by dreamy Spanish sunsets and blue seas. On our Palma Chair and Footstool, we displayed a vibrant pattern consisting of inky blues, creams, and sand tones, bringing the whole collection together.

“We have maximised the seating area on this model by using larger seat foams. The colour combinations used, a slimmer arm and an added pleated feature on the outside and inside arms, results in this model being so visually attractive as well as being supremely comfortable. It certainly was a showstopper at JFS.”

Furthermore, its “Buxton” model was also unveiled. “It features a stylish curved arm, split back cushion, larger seat cushions and is displayed in a commercial cream and oatmeal chenille fabric with hints of terracotta and blue,” Alison continued. “This is a newly launched semi plain chenille fabric by Ross Fabrics and has plenty of safe choices but includes some interesting colourways, even one with purple and yellow in the same fabric – so, plenty of choice! We had a very positive response to this model, it was our top seller at JFS, and we are looking forward to seeing it in more retailers over the coming year.”

Both these models have had several repeats since suppling them into its retailers earlier in the year and West Midlands Upholstery looks forward to seeing continued success following the Spring Furniture & Bed Show.

Norton

“In addition, our “Norton” model has taken somewhat of a back seat over the past 18 months or so,” Steve added. “Therefore, we wanted to reinvent it, as we felt it had much more mileage. This year we re-launched it in a brand-new premium range chenille fabric, replacing the grey herringbone previously used. This new fabric is beautifully lush and soft with a contemporary Aztec design, available in slate, dove, soft greens, royal blue, and terracotta, amongst others.”

Alongside the aforementioned products, other key models continue to remain popular. “Our Henley model (as a 2+1 with Footstool) is a fabulous repeater as are our Regency Patchwork Chairs, which are also available in a variety of other wonderful fabrics,” Alison said. “Our Windsor Chair is still doing fabulously in our tartan range. We also offer custom sizing on all our models, which can sometimes be a deal breaker when trying to secure a sale.

“We will be offering show discounts on our new models to encourage retailers to take a closer look. We will also be having one or two of our ranges in the main entrance, so look out for us on arrival. We are looking forward to exhibiting at the show, where we can meet our customers, both old and new.”
