Furniture imports during February 2026 increased on the same month last year while exports from the UK also rose.
According to the latest UK trade data, analysed by Big Furniture Group, total imports of furniture into Britain valued £777.2m in February 2026, up 4.4% from £744m against the same month the previous year.
Imports from the EU registered an uptick of 3% to £328.9m from £319.2m. Imports from Italy were up 0.4% to £63.5m, while Polish imports rose 3.6% to £61.2m. Imports from Germany were down 5% to £51m, while imports from the Netherlands rose 104% to £29.2m.
As for outside the EU, total imports were up 5.5% to a value of £448.2m from £424.8m. Chinese imports were up 4.3% to £320.2m, while Vietnam fell by 1.3% to £24.3m. Imports from USA rose 27.7% to £23.2m.
Moving to exports, the total value of UK furniture leaving the country rose 4.7% to £227.8m from £217.4m year-on-year. In Europe, exports increased by 13% to £108.2m from £95.4m. Exports to France decreased 14% to £25.6m, while Irish exports were down 6% to £20.4m. Exports to Germany rose 102% to £21.4m, while to the Netherlands, exports were up 15% to £7.9m.
Outside the EU saw exports decrease 1.9% to £119.6m from £122m. Exports to China were up 6% to £7.6m, while Australia rose 23% to £3.3m. Exports to the Philippines rose 527% to £6.6m, while the UAE were up 0.5% to £7m. The USA increased 10% to £60.8m.
