Homeware high street sales up double-digit

Homeware sales on the high street end May with double-digit growth.

According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 6.09% for the week ending 31 May 2026.

Homewares total LFLs increased by +14.43% this week, from a positive base of +3.26% for the same week last year.

Store homewares sales grew by +0.15% this week, compared to +11.70% for the same week last year. Non-store homewares sales increased by +14.30% this week, compared to -10.51% for the same week last year.

Total store LFL sales increased by +6.78% this week, compared to a positive base of +1.81% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales increased by +8.89% this week, compared to a positive base of +2.82% for the same week last year.

Commenting on the results, BDO said: “The week was dominated by two record-breaking late-spring heatwaves of 34.8 and 35.1 degrees at the beginning of the week, before returning to general widespread sunshine and cooler conditions.”

Springboard data showed overall footfall grew by +0.9% this week, led by high street footfall (+1.8%) and retail parks footfall (+1.6%), while shopping centre footfall fell by -1.9%.
