Irish furniture retail sales showed an annual decline in both volume and value during April, while on a monthly comparison, sales also fell.
According to the latest Retail Sales Index data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) for April 2026, furniture and lighting sales saw an annual volume decline by -10.3%. On a monthly comparison, sales were down by -1.6%.
The value of furniture and lighting retail sales decreased -1.7% month-on-month, while falling by -10.7% on an annual basis.
Department stores saw annual volume fall -4.5%, while month-on-month fell -2%. As for the value, this fell -2.2% on a monthly basis, while declining by -1.2% annually.
Overall, the volume of Retail Sales decreased by 0.2% in the month and by 0.5% in the 12 months from April 2025. The value of Retail Sales for All Businesses fell by 0.4% in the month and rose by 1.0% in the 12 months to April 2026.
