Poltronesofà UK, the UK specialist furniture retailer owned by the Poltronesofà Group – also operating in Italy, France and across Europe – has provided an update on its performance and progress for the year ended 31 December 2025.
During 2025, the Company continued to execute its development plan to align more closely with the wider Poltronesofà Group’s highly successful and profitable business model.
The plan began following the acquisition of the UK business in January 2024 and included a comprehensive upgrade of showroom fit-out and layout, the roll-out of a refreshed product range offering the differentiated ‘any sofa, any fabric’ proposition aligned to the European business, and a series of upgrades to internal systems and processes. Having refurbished approximately half of the stores in 2024, the Company completed the remainder of the estate during 2025.
In 2025 the Company also opened a new store in Carlisle and relocated its Warrington store. Across 2024 and 2025, the Company’s 97 stores were transformed through an investment of approximately £60m. This substantial investment demonstrates the strong commitment of the Poltronesofà Group to the UK market.
It has materially upgraded the store network and commercial proposition, while strengthening the Company’s operational foundations for improved profitability and providing the platform for the next phase of growth.
Despite refurbishment-related disruption and temporary store closures, the Company grew its order intake by 2.1% to £267.8m (2024 12 months: £262.2m) and delivered gross revenue of £253.5m (2024 12 months: £253.6m).
Gross margin improved to 49.4% from 47.4% underpinned by well-received new product launches, the establishment of new relationships with manufacturer partners and pricing discipline.
This sourcing improvement, together with ongoing cost control, has also meant the Company achieved a materially improved underlying operating result. After adjusting for the impact of temporary store closures and one-off integration costs, the 2025 financial result was close to breakeven.
In the first months of 2026, the Poltronesofà brand was launched across all 97 stores, completing the strategic plan initiated with the acquisition in early 2024.
The Company has also secured new locations for three further store openings in 2026 as it builds towards true national coverage. Its near-term focus is to build recognition of the Poltronesofà name in the UK, continue strengthening the customer proposition, grow sales volumes and deliver improved profitability.
Early trading following the rebrand has been encouraging, supporting confidence in the Group’s expectation of a positive operating profit result for 2026 and a further significant improvement in profitability in 2027.
The Company believes the completed refurbishment programme, enhanced customer proposition and strengthened brand platform provide a powerful foundation for the next phase of the UK business. It remains focused on disciplined operational execution, customer experience improvements and continued new product development.
Commenting on the year, the Company said: “The 2025 financial year has been one of investment and transformation. The business absorbed the disruption of a major store renewal programme while delivering positive order intake, improved gross margin and a stronger underlying financial performance. The transformation programme is now complete, and our focus is firmly on translating that investment into further sales growth, a stronger customer offer and continued profit progression.”
