Independent furniture, beds and carpet retailer Suttons Carpet and Furniture Centre has announced plans to close.
Situated on Wickford High Street, the business, which has been established since the 1940s, has launched a closing down sale, bringing an end to more than 80 years of trading.
The closure is due to retirement with the business currently run by the fourth generation of the Sutton family.
In a statement, Suttons said: “After eight decades Sutton’s is sadly closing the doors to its Wickford store.
“Our management are retiring and us as staff and our wider community wish them all well in their next chapter. Store discounts now on. All items must go! Don’t miss out on some great bargains.
“Operations will continue from our warehouse so rest assured if you have orders with us everything is safe. Thank you for all your support over the years.”
