Homeware sales fell on the high street for a sixth straight week.
According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales fell 4.43% for the week ending 12 April 2026.
Homewares total LFLs fell by -9.80%, from a base of +5.58% for the same week last year.
Store homewares sales fell by -11.30% this week, from a positive base of +0.06% for the same week last year. Non-store homewares sales grew by +9.40% this week, from a negative base of -6.53% last year.
Total store LFL sales declined by -4.03%, from a positive base of +0.02% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales grew by +2.53%, from a strong base of +16.38% for the same week last year.
Commenting on the results, BDO said: “For the fourth week in a row sales fell across all retail categories (Lifestyle, Fashion, and Homewares).
“This week saw a transition from unsettled post‑storm conditions into a warm, spring‑like spell, with temperatures climbing well above the seasonal norm in certain areas, before turning more changeable again toward the weekend.”
According to Springboard data, overall footfall fell by -0.8% this week, driven by high street footfall which fell by -3.1%, whereas footfall increased in retail parks (+1.8%), and shopping centres (+1.5%).
