Furniture imports during April 2026 increased on the same month last year while exports from the UK also rose.
According to the latest UK trade data, analysed by Big Furniture Group, total imports of furniture into Britain valued £705.1m in April 2026, up 5.2% from £670.1m against the same month the previous year.
Imports from the EU registered an uptick of 3.5% to £317m from £306.1m. Imports from Italy were up 10.6% to £64.9m, while Polish imports fell 7% to £59m. Imports from Germany were up 1.1% to £52.2m, while imports from Spain rose 11.9% to £11.3m.
As for outside the EU, total imports were up 6.6% to a value of £388.1m from £363.9m. Chinese imports were up 5.1% to £260.4m, while Vietnam fell by 5% to £24.9m. Imports from USA rose 33% to £23.5m.
Moving to exports, the total value of UK furniture leaving the country rose 5.2% to £207.6m from £197.3m year-on-year. In Europe, exports increased by 19% to £110.4m from £92.7m. Exports to France increased 30% to £33.8m, while Irish exports were up 10.2% to £20.1m. Exports to Germany rose 58% to £21.8m, while to Czechia, exports were up 30% to £4.4m.
Outside the EU saw exports decrease 7% to £97.2m from £104.5m. Exports to China were down 44% to £2.3m, while Australia fell 45% to £1.3m. Exports to Taiwan rose 224% to £1.5m, while the USA increased 1.8% to £51m.
