Upholstery business expands into new manufacturing facility

Upholstery maker HA Upholstery has announced the opening of its new manufacturing facility in Blackburn.

Situated at Whitebirk Industrial Estate in Cunliffe Road, the new 70,000sqft facility officially opens on 20 June 2026. The company recently hosted an opening event attended by friends, family, local councillors and the MP for Blackburn, Adnan Hussain.

The new manufacturing site has seen HA Upholstery’s workforce grow to 70 staff, with the business expecting to create a further 25 jobs as production capacity increases.

The company said the new facility will also allow it to invest in new machinery, improve production efficiency and increase manufacturing capacity.

Haseeb Ali, founder of HA Upholstery, commented: “As someone who was born and raised in Blackburn, it was important to me that we continued investing in the town and creating opportunities for local people. We have looked at various options over the years, but Blackburn is home and we wanted our growth to benefit the local community.

“What started as a small business selling sofas has grown into a manufacturing operation supplying customers across the UK and Ireland. I am incredibly proud of what our team has achieved and grateful to everyone who has supported us on this journey.

“This new facility represents the next chapter for HA Upholstery. It gives us the space to invest in new technology, improve efficiency, increase production and create more jobs. We are ambitious about the future and committed to continuing our growth whilst maintaining the quality and service that our customers have come to expect.”
