UK searches of furniture during May 2026 saw garden furniture perform well for a fifth straight month, while cooling bed products, sofa bed storage and assembled bedroom furniture were other stand out searches.
According to Google search data analysed by Big Furniture Group, three days during May 2026 saw ‘furniture’ searches record an index score of 90 or more, while a score over 80 came in at eight days. The highest searched date was 25 May with a full score 100.
Google index’s its search data to 100. This means where 100 is the maximum search interest for the term selected, it is the highest value and indicates a high internet search.
The results saw related searches of specific terms that included ‘airsprung furniture administration’, while garden furniture searches were high with ‘morrisons garden furniture’ up 50%, as well as ‘aldi garden furniture’, up 90%, and ‘laura james garden furniture’, up 50%.
Other search terms Big Furniture Group reviewed included mattresses, bedroom furniture, dining furniture, living room furniture, sofas, carpets and flooring.
Mattresses
Mattress searches recorded five peak dates with an index score value of 90 or more. The highest searched date was 31 May with a full score of 100. Popular related searches included ‘single bed with mattress included’ – up 90%, ‘cooling mattress’ – up 50%, ‘what is a coil mattress’ – up 50%, ‘cooling mattress topper’ – up 50%, and ‘emma mattress’ – up 60%.
Bedroom furniture
Bedroom furniture searches recorded four days of peak activity with an index value over 90. The most searched date was 17 May, which scored a full 100. Popular related searches included ‘kids bedroom furniture sets’ – up 150%, ‘bedside tables’ – up 140%, ‘chest of drawers’ – up 90%, and ‘boys bedroom furniture’ – up 80%. Meanwhile, ‘assembled bedroom furniture’, ‘bedroom furniture chest of draws’, ‘wren bedroom furniture’, and ‘very bedroom furniture sets’ were all high performing searches.
Dining furniture
Dining furniture searches recorded two days of peak activity with an index value over 90. The most searched date was 24 May, which scored a full 100. Popular related searches included ‘aldi garden furniture’ – up 350%, ‘wayfair garden furniture’ – up 350%, ‘furniture and choice’ – up 200%, ‘oak furnitureland near me’ – up 200%, and ‘tesco garden furniture’ – up 90%.
Living room furniture
Living room furniture saw two peak days during the month. The most searched day was 4 May that scored the full 100 score. Popular related searches included ‘living room design’ – up 250%, ‘oak furnitureland’ – up 120%, ‘country living room furniture’ – up 80%, and ‘living room furniture sale’ – up 50%. Other notable searches included ‘furniture village’, and ‘oak furniture superstore’.
Sofas
Sofa searches saw five peak dates, with the highest score of 100 recorded on 17 May. Popular related searches included ‘aldi garden sofa’ – up 90%, ‘corner sofa bed with storage’- up 60%, ‘outdoor sofa cover’ – up 50%, and ‘john lewis sofa bed modular’, which was a high breakout search.
Flooring & Carpets
Flooring searches saw 11 days scoring over 90, with the highest date being 20 May, scoring the full 100. Carpet searches saw five days scoring over 90, with the highest date on 4 May scoring the full 100. Popular related searches included ‘chevron laminate flooring’ – up 150%, ‘lyno flooring’ – up 80%, ‘luxury vinyl plank flooring’ – up 60%, ‘topps tiles’ – up 50%, ‘carpet retailer near me’ – up 120%, and ‘greige carpet’ – up 80%.
