Homeware sales on the high street delivered another month of double-digit growth as overall sales increased again.
According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose +2.15% for the week ending 16 August 2026.
Homewares total LFLs increased by +12.67% (adjusted) this week, from a positive base of +20.13% (adjusted) for the same week last year.
Store homewares sales increased by +12.05% this week, compared to +25.65% for the same week last year. Non-store homewares sales increased by +21.65% this week, compared to -11.05% for the same week last year.
Total store LFL sales continue to perform well, growing for seven consecutive weeks, and increased by +5.07% this week, compared to a positive base of +3.51% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales fell by -2.01% this week, compared to a positive base of +4.38% for the same week last year.
Commenting on the results, BDO said: “After experiencing the fifth heatwave of the year, provisional data from the Met Office indicates the UK is on track for the hottest summer on record after temperatures reached 38.1C in London on Thursday.”
Springboard data showed overall footfall increased by +1.0% this week, driven by retail parks footfall which increased by +3.0% and shopping centre footfall which increased by +2.4%. High street footfall fell by -0.6% this week.
