Family furnishings retailer Hatfields Furniture and Interiors has confirmed that it will not be renewing the lease on its separate Hatfields Budget and Clearance Store, which will close later this year.
The main Hatfields Furniture and Interiors store, which is based on Peartree Road, Stanway in Colchester and specialises in premium furniture and interiors, is not closing and will continue trading as normal.
The decision relates solely to the budget and clearance-format store, which operates as a distinct retail offer. Hatfields’ principal business – the Furniture and Interiors store that the company is known for locally – remains fully operational and unaffected.
“Over recent years we have seen rising operating costs and a shift in customer demand,” the company said. “As a result, we have taken the decision to refocus the business entirely on the premium furniture and interiors offer that Hatfields is best known for in Colchester.
“We are proud of the reputation Hatfields Furniture and Interiors has built locally. This decision allows us to concentrate fully on that core business and continue delivering the level of service and quality our customers expect.”
