Homeware high street sales remain positive once again

Homeware sales on the high street remained positive for a third straight week as overall sales increased.

Homewares total LFLs increased by +9.10% this week, from a positive base of +5.09% for the same week last year.

Commenting on the results, BDO said: “Mirroring the same trend this time last year, both store and non-store saw positive total LFL sales growth this week, driven by positive total LFL sales across all the retail categories (Lifestyle, Fashion, and Homewares).

“The UK entered the week immediately after its most significant heatwave on record. Temperatures fell markedly with northern and western parts of the UK seeing periods of rain, cloud, and fresher air while southern and eastern England remained warm and dry. By the weekend, temperatures began to rise again across southern England.”

Springboard data showed overall footfall increased by +0.8% this week, driven by positive footfall across all three categories – high street footfall (+0.9%), retail parks footfall (also +0.9%), and shopping centre footfall (+0.5%).
